Blogmas: Top Music of 2014 part 1

If you’re anything like me, then you live for music. Honestly, I can’t go a day without it. I think it’s the fact that each song holds a different story that someone can relate to. It brings people together. And, in my opinion, that’s that this world really needs, to be united. Anyways, to get on with the point of this post, I wanted to share a few of my favourite songs, artists, and albums of 2014.
1. First off, I really like Hozier. I know you’ve all probably heard Take Me To Church by now, but he has other amazing songs as well. If you haven’t heard them yet, take the time to check them out.
2. Taylor Swift seems to be making such a big comeback this year and mixing up her style at the same time. I am in love with 1989. It’s just so upbeat and catchy; makes me wish I was around for the 80s!
3. As my mum says, Ariana Grande is literally everywhere lately. To be honest, I’m not really loving her new album as much as I did the last one. However, there are a few good songs that stick out to me: Just a Little Bit of Your Heart, Best Mistake, and Too Close.
4. Vance Joy. Another artist whose music you’ve most likely all heard, but not necessarily remembered the name. His song Riptide has caused such an uproar in the music industry, and for good reason. His way with music is so soulful, it will have you listening nonstop.
5. I completely fell in love with Sam Smith’s voice this year. I don’t know what else to even say because his voice says it all. It’s like his voice is heaven.
6. Ed Sheeran will always hold such an important part of my heart. His newest album, X, is perfection. I love that little ginger of mine :)
7. 5 Seconds of Summer. Every year it seems that I fall more in love with them. The way their voices harmonize perfectly, complimenting each other’s. Their individual talents with not only vocals, but instruments as well. Their unique twist on rock music. Everything they do just makes me want more. (Okay, it’s official, I sound like a really creepy fangirl).

Blogmas: DIY Ornaments

One of my favourite parts of Christmas is the ornaments. They are so cute and set the theme for any tree. Personally, I'm really into the "shabby chic, vintage" kind of ideas lately, and would totally recommend working this into your tree. Below are some really cute vintage DIY ornaments I found on Pinterest.

This ornament is my 7 year old self's dream. I love how the pearls work with the clear ornament, and the pink bow just ties it together!

This next idea was posted from an Etsy account, but seems really simple to make yourself! The shiny gems can be bought at a craft store, and hot glued to any ornament. Just imagine how cute it would look with the Christmas lights shining onto them!

For all you music lovers, this idea is too precious to not make! Using some sheet music, you mod podge it to an ornament, put on a light coat of glitter, and stick on a print out tag! For some extra glam they bejeweled the screw on top of the ornament, and the final look is completely perfect!

Although this next one seems to take a bit more time, the overall appearance is worth it. If you really don't feel like taking the time to put soemthing like this together, you can buy one already made. I just love the idea of the vintage style of this, it reminds me of Marie Antoinette.

3 Artists Worth Listening To

If you're anything like me, you live for music and love finding new artists to obsess over. I'm the kind of person that will listen to anything, as love as it has a beat. But lately, I've been leaning more towards Indie/ Grunge, Blues/ Soul, and Alternative. Below are some of the artists I've been really into lately.

1. Andrew (Hozier)- Byrne: An Irish musician. His most popular single, Take Me To Church, was released in 2013 gaining him a lot of fame. He recently released another EP, From Eden. My two personal favourites (other than TMTC) are Arsonist's Lullaby, and Sedated. Hozier has an unknown way with music that sets him apart from other artists. His voice is full of soul and has a relaxing tone to it. Hozier will definitely go far in the music industry this upcoming year.

2. Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros: An American- Indie folk band from Los Angeles, California. They rose to fame in 2009 when their single, Home, topped the charts. Some of their songs that do not get the credit they deserve are 40 Day Dream, Life Is Hard, and This Life. This 8-man group write songs that are soulful and empowering. If you are in that percentage that only knows Home then take the time out of your day to broaden your musical horizons. I can promise you will not regret it!

3. James Keogh (Vance Joy): An Australian singer-songwriter. In 2013 he signed a 5 album deal with Atlantic Records. I am ashamed to admit that the only song I have heard of his is Riptide. However, I do plan on listening to his debut album released in early September, Dream Your Life Away. Although I regrettable have not had the chance to listen to all of his music, I am already in love with his voice and his way with words shown in his music. I can guarantee I will enjoy his whole album!
